Edwin Hermandis Webster was the son of Isaac Shuarte Webster and Cynthia Williams Webster, born in Macon Co., IL. He would move with the family many
times in his boyhood, farming across Illinois, into Iowa, and back to Illinois.

By the age of 18, Edwin had landed in Newburg, IL, from where he enlisted as a soldier in the Civil War. He joined the IL Infantry, Company D, Unit 7 on
February 17, 1865, on behalf of the Union.  His rank at induction and separation was "private."  He joined Cpt. Westlake's company and was mustered out
by Ctp. Guthrie in July, 1865.
Edwin met OH native Sarah Ann Thomas. In 1860, She lived with her parents in Vermillion, IN. Regardless how the families came together (whether in OH,
IN, IA, or IL), the couple married January 28, 1869, in Pittsfield, Pike Co., IL.

By 1870, Edwin, 23, was established as a Pike Co. farmer (likely given land to farm on his father's farm) with a personal estate valued at about $100. In
November of that year, the couple had son Alva.

Sarah gave birth to Adah in Blandinsville, a small town in McDonough Co., in February, 1872. In May of 1874, Arland was born. By September, 1875, the
family had returned to Newburgh, Pike Co., and son Herman was born. Daughter Icedora was born two years later in August, 1877. Sadly, Icedora died just
before the age of two, in July, 1979 —  shortly after the birth of her baby brother, Ernest, in May.

In 1880, Edwin, 29, was farming. Son Clyde Daniel Webster was born in August, just after the census. At that time, however, Alva, Ada, Herman, Samual
and Arland were in the home. (Discrepency noted on that census report for Sarah’s birthplace, which is listed there as OH rather than IN).

Edwin and Sarah had another child in September of 1882 – Arrie Sibyl (also called Arabilla). Edmond was born in December, 1887.

The family next moved to Augusta, Hancock Co., IL, where daughter Ethel was born in November, 1889. Jennie followed in August, 1892, and Carrie was
born in December, 1893.

Edwin died July 1, 1895 and Sarah filed for a window's pension from the Civil War on September 19, 1895.
In 1900, son Herman, 24, lived with Sarah with the Augusta farm. He was known on census forms as “mentally deficient.” Also living at home was Ernest, 21,
who was employed as a grocer's laborer. Ethel, 10, was in school, though daughter Jennie, 7, was not. Sarah reported that she had given birth to a dozen
children, and of those, nine were still alive. Widowed son Arland lived alone in a rented home in 1900 and his employment was recorded as "farm
manager." Very likely, he managed his mother Sarah's farm. Son Clyde also lived nearby.

Sarah died on September 26, 1916 of Paralysis (Urimnic), contributed to by chronic nephrytis. She is buried by her husband in the Old Augusta Cemetery,
Augusta, IL (Row 9, section 2).
EDWIN HERMANDIS WEBSTER (ISAAC SHUARTE, AMOS JR., AMOS) was born Sep 26, 1846 in Macon Co, IL (or) OH, and died Jul 01, 1895 in Augusta,
Hancock Co., IL.  He married SARAH ANN THOMAS Jan 28, 1869 in Pittsfield, Pike Co., IL, daughter of SAMUEL THOMAS and TEANNY HICKMAN.  She was
born Jun 13, 1850 in OH, and died Sep 26, 1916 in Augusta, Hancock Co., IL.
